Danville is a borough in Montour County situated along the North Branch of the Susquehanna River in the foothills of the Appalachian range. The town spreads across a compact area with gentle ridges and serves as the administrative center of the county.
William Montgomery purchased the land in 1774 and established a trading post called Montgomery's Landing. His son Daniel planned the town's main streets in 1792, establishing the framework for the community we see today.
