Fallasburg Bridge, Brown truss covered bridge in Vergennes Township, Michigan, US

The Fallasburg Bridge stretches 100 feet across the Flat River with a wooden structure featuring diagonal compression beams and vertical tension members.

Built in 1871 by Jared N. Bresee for $1,500, the bridge represents a significant advancement in 19th-century transportation infrastructure in Kent County.

The bridge stands as a central element within the Fallasburg Historical District, connecting visitors to Michigan's rural architectural heritage.

Located 5 miles north of Lowell, this bridge remains one of only four covered bridges in Michigan that allows vehicle traffic with a 3-ton limit.

The structure rests on concrete and fieldstone footings installed in 1905 and maintains its original Brown truss system patented in 1857.
