Tennessee State University is a public land-grant institution in Nashville, Tennessee. The campus enrolls more than 8,000 students and offers programs in fields such as engineering, health sciences, business administration, and education.
The institution opened in 1912 as a teacher training school and provided access to higher learning for African American students. Over the course of the 20th century, the curriculum expanded to include technical and scientific disciplines.
