Gardner, Industrial heritage city in Worcester County, Massachusetts

Located at an elevation of 324 meters, Gardner extends across 23 square miles of varied terrain with residential neighborhoods and commercial districts.

Founded in 1764 and incorporated in 1785, Gardner grew into a manufacturing center with twenty chair factories producing four million chairs annually by 1910.

The Gardner Heritage State Park preserves the industrial legacy through exhibitions of furniture manufacturing tools, techniques, and historical photographs from local factories.

The Montachusett Regional Transit Authority provides regular bus services throughout Gardner, connecting residential areas with shopping centers and medical facilities.

The city celebrates its furniture heritage with the Annual Chair Luge festival, where teams compete by racing down streets in modified wheeled chairs.
