Morrisville is a town in North Carolina spread between Wake County and Durham County and mixed with residential areas, commercial districts and green spaces. The built environment extends along several roadways and includes both older cores and newly developed suburbs.
The North Carolina Railroad established a station here in 1852 after Jeremiah Morris provided land for the tracks and a depot. The railway line brought settlers and trade, causing the place to grow slowly and expand considerably only in recent times due to its proximity to the Research Triangle Park site.
The settlement carries the name of Jeremiah Morris, while today Asian restaurants, temples and festivals appear throughout the streets and squares. Immigrants from India, China and Korea have opened community centers here that preserve languages and customs from their home countries.
