Naguabo, Municipality on the east coast of Puerto Rico, United States.
Naguabo is a municipality on the east coast of Puerto Rico, located on the Vieques Passage with significant land and water areas. The area is connected by numerous bridges and served by the Pisicorre bus system that moves people throughout the municipality.
The settlement was founded in 1794 and achieved official municipal status in 1821 under the leadership of Luis de Gaztambide, Juan Viera, and other founders. These early decades established the foundation of the community that exists today.
The festival of Patrona Nuestra Virgen del Rosario takes place each October and shapes community life with traditional parades, food stands, and live music performances. These celebrations are deeply rooted in local identity and bring people together to honor their shared heritage.
The Pisicorre bus service is the main way to travel around and connect to different areas of the municipality. The many bridges make it straightforward to reach coastal zones and explore various parts of the community.
El Malecón de La Playa Hucares is a waterfront promenade where local fishermen deliver their daily catch to more than 30 restaurants. This direct connection between fishermen and dining establishments keeps fresh seafood at the heart of local cuisine.
