Wilson Dam, Hydroelectric dam on Tennessee River, Alabama, United States

Wilson Dam extends 1384 meters across the Tennessee River between Lauderdale and Colbert counties, featuring 58 spillway gates for water management.

The United States Army Corps of Engineers constructed Wilson Dam between 1918 and 1924, employing 18,000 workers to complete this engineering project.

The dam received National Historic Landmark status in 1966 for its role as the first dam under Tennessee Valley Authority administration.

Wilson Lake, created by the dam, offers 166 miles of shoreline and 15,500 acres of water surface for fishing and recreational activities.

The main lock at Wilson Dam reaches 94 feet high, making it the highest single lift lock east of the Rocky Mountains.
