The Pennsylvania State Capitol features Renaissance Revival architecture with a central dome rising 83 meters above the government complex grounds.
Construction of the current building, designed by Joseph Miller Huston, began in 1902 and concluded in 1906 with total expenses reaching 13 million dollars.
The Capitol contains numerous works from Pennsylvania artists, including murals, stained glass windows, sculptures, and paintings throughout its interior spaces.
Visitors can join free guided tours every half hour during weekdays and at scheduled times during weekends through the Welcome Center entrance.
President Theodore Roosevelt attended the dedication ceremony in 1906, declaring it the finest state capitol building he had seen in America.
