Denville Township is a municipality in Morris County, New Jersey. The area is crossed by the Rockaway River and contains several residential communities along with numerous lakes and bodies of water.
The area had mills and forges along the Rockaway River starting around 1730 that built small industrial settlements. The township itself was established in 1913 when separated from Rockaway Township.
Multiple forges and mills along the Rockaway River and Denbrook shaped early industrial settlements in Denville between 1730 and 1760.
