Garfield Park, Botanical garden in West Side, Chicago, US
The two-acre indoor facility contains eight display rooms housing thousands of plant species within a glass and steel architectural structure on Chicago's West Side.
Landscape architect Jens Jensen designed this conservatory in 1908, replacing three Victorian glass houses from the 1880s with innovative ground-planted botanical displays.
The Elizabeth Morse Genius Children's Garden and educational programs provide hands-on learning experiences about plant life, environmental science, and sustainable practices.
The conservatory maintains specialized environments, including the Palm House, Desert House, and Fern Room, each supporting different plant species with controlled temperature and humidity.
Dale Chihuly's permanent art installation features sixteen yellow glass lily pads floating in the Persian Pool of the Aroid House.

Chicago is explored as a mosaic of neighborhoods, parks, and towers, each telling a part of its story. The city reveals itself through reflections on Lake Michigan, glass facades rising above the river, and museums among the richest in the United States. The journey takes you from a public garden resembling an art gallery to a platform attached to a tower, then to a shopping avenue with architecture competing with storefronts. Cultural centers, iconic stadiums, and ethnic neighborhoods add further dimensions to this urban landscape. Here is a selection of places that show Chicago as it is lived, amidst height, culture, and daily energy.
