Oceanside is a community on Long Island located along the southern shore of Nassau County. The area combines residential neighborhoods with commercial districts spread across the landscape.
The settlement was renamed from Christian Hook to Ocean Side in 1890 to avoid confusion with another place called Oceanville elsewhere in New York. This change reflected the community's evolving identity.
