Boothbay Harbor, Coastal town in Lincoln County, Maine
Boothbay Harbor is a coastal town in Maine built around a natural deep-water port with residential and commercial buildings facing the water. The waterfront includes numerous docks, boat slips, and direct access to the Atlantic Ocean.
The area remained empty until 1729 when settlers arrived and began to establish communities. The town separated as its own municipality in 1889.
The fishing trade shapes daily life here, with boats coming and going from the harbor and seafood playing a central role in local dining.
The town is accessible by car, located roughly 2 hours north of Portland. The harbor area is easy to explore on foot with good views from the waterfront.
The botanical gardens here transform into a glowing display during winter months with thousands of lights. Free shuttle buses run during this season to help visitors reach the illuminated gardens.
