Hudson Valley Rail Trail, National Recreation Trail in Highland, New York, US.
The Hudson Valley Rail Trail is a converted railroad route running through hardwood forests and crossing Black Creek. The path connects three towns while passing through varied terrain and natural areas.
The route follows the former New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad, preserving two vintage railway cabooses from 1915 and 1926. These structures mark the area's railroad past.
The trail hosts regular community events and features educational signs that detail the local history and natural environment of the Hudson Valley region.
The trail offers several entry points with parking areas along its length, including at New Paltz Bypass and various spots in Highland. Restroom facilities are available at Tony Williams Park for visitor convenience.
Two large arched stone bridges carry New Paltz Road over the trail below. A rock cut section along the route displays blooming wildflowers that change throughout the seasons.
