Amherst State Park

The 80-acre parkland features wooded areas, meadows, old orchards, and formally landscaped grounds along Ellicott Creek, which divides the property into two sections.

The land belonged to St. Mary of the Angels Convent until 2000, when New York State and the Town of Amherst jointly purchased it for 5 million dollars.

The National Register of Historic Places includes the Gothic Revival motherhouse complex that stands near the park, representing early 20th-century religious architecture.

Visitors can access the park at 400 Mill Street in Williamsville, where nature trails accommodate walking, jogging, and leashed dog activities throughout the year.

Within its boundaries lies the former Reist Mill, a locally designated historic structure that reflects the industrial heritage of Erie County.
