University at Buffalo Stadium, Football stadium in Amherst, US
University at Buffalo Stadium is a football stadium on the north campus of the university in Amherst, New York, with seating for around 30,000 spectators and an eight-lane track circling the playing field. Double-decked grandstands run the full length of the field, giving most seats a clear view of the action.
The stadium opened on September 4, 1993 with a game between the Buffalo Bulls and the Maine Black Bears, held as part of the World University Games. Since then it has served as the main home of university football, going through several upgrades over the years.
On game days, the stands fill with students, families, and fans from the surrounding area who come to cheer on the Buffalo Bulls. The energy in the crowd reflects how football ties the university to the broader Amherst community.
The stadium sits on the north campus and is within walking distance of most university buildings, with shuttle buses running on game days for those parking farther away. Arriving early gives you time to find a good spot and settle in before the crowd builds up.
The stadium was designed by Populous, the same firm behind many major arenas across North America, back when the company was still operating under the name HOK Sport. It was one of their earlier projects in what would become a long list of sports venues.
