Town of Tonawanda Veterans Memorial, Veterans memorial in Town of Tonawanda, New York
The Veterans Memorial features a seven-foot-tall V-shaped monument made of Paradiso granite with engraved plaques listing names of local service members from different military branches.
The memorial, dedicated on August 18, 2009, welcomed over 1,500 attendees and featured retired U.S. Army General Colin L. Powell delivering the keynote address.
The site includes a Korean War-era Grumman F9F-6P Cougar Naval airframe displayed since 1959, representing the connection between military history and community remembrance.
Located at the intersection of Brighton Road and Colvin Boulevard in Walter M. Kenney Park, the memorial provides benches and walking paths for visitors.
The memorial wall accommodates over 3,000 names of veterans, arranged by military branch, with space designated during a second construction phase in 2010.
