Archbold Gymnasium, Gymnasium in University Hill, New York
Archbold Gymnasium comprises multiple training areas, sports courts, and fitness facilities within the Syracuse University campus grounds.
The architectural firm Revels & Hallenbeck designed this sports facility, which opened its doors on December 17, 1908 with a construction cost of 400,000 dollars.
The facility hosted the New York State Republican Convention in September 1928, marking its role beyond collegiate athletics.
The Barnes Center at The Arch now incorporates modern amenities including a climbing wall, esports room, basketball courts, swimming pool, and fitness studios.
In 1909, the gymnasium became the first university facility to install an indoor rowing tank, enabling winter practice sessions for the crew team.
