Argenta Historic District, Historic district in North Little Rock, United States.
Argenta Historic District is a residential neighborhood in North Little Rock containing about 177 buildings in Craftsman and Colonial Revival styles, many along Willow Street. The structures show different designs from various periods and shape the character of the area.
The area began as a railroad settlement called Argenta in the 1890s and became part of North Little Rock in 1903. This transition from an independent settlement to an urban neighborhood shaped its later development.
The First Presbyterian Church and other notable buildings show how residents transformed this area from an industrial zone into a valued neighborhood. You can see this shift reflected in the structures that line the streets today.
The district sits between Broadway Street and 6th Street and includes historical markers, local shops, and the Argenta Branch Library. Visitors can explore the area on foot and discover the various buildings and local amenities throughout.
Between 1993 and 2007, restoration work led by community members raised the share of buildings meeting National Register standards from about 50 percent to 81 percent. These efforts saved many houses from decay and brought the neighborhood back to life.
