Description
Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo is a wildlife facility in Bridgeport housing over 300 animals across 40 hectares along the Pequonnock River. The grounds feature distinct zones with different environments designed for the various species on display.
History
James W. Beardsley donated the land in 1878, and landscape designer Frederick Law Olmsted laid out the park grounds in 1881. This founding reflected a vision for a modern recreational space in Bridgeport.
Culture
The zoo focuses on protecting animals from North and South America through different habitats. You can explore a farmyard with local species and a rainforest where birds fly freely above your head.

The zoo opens daily with walking paths and exhibits spread throughout the grounds for exploration. Wear comfortable shoes and allow time to move between different zones to see everything fully.
