Brick Hotel, Hotel in den Vereinigten Staaten
The Brick Hotel is a Greek Revival brick structure built in 1836 in Georgetown, Delaware. The building stands two and a half stories with seven bays across its front facade, includes a rear wing, and features slate roofing with double chimneys at each end.
Built in 1836 to serve travelers and locals, it replaced an earlier public house. In the 20th century it was converted to bank offices, and during the 1990s a "Save the Brick" campaign prevented demolition when the state planned to remove the building for parking.
The building was once known as the "Union Hotel" and held significance in the town's Civil War era. Today it serves as a venue for local traditions and celebrations, maintaining its role as a gathering place within the community.
The hotel sits on The Circle, a central location in Georgetown that is easy to find. The owners frequently assist visitors with directions and information about the surrounding area, making it a helpful reference point while exploring town.
One of the owners has officiated between 125 and 150 wedding ceremonies at the location, giving the building a special role in local celebrations. Couples are drawn to the quiet historic setting and intimate atmosphere that makes their events feel personal and meaningful.
