Bull Shoals-White River State Park, State park with fishing lakes in Mountain Home, United States.
Bull Shoals-White River State Park is a large outdoor recreation area in Arkansas where two major lakes and a river meet. The park covers over 45,000 acres and features multiple boat ramps, fishing areas, and waterfront access points throughout its length.
The park was created in 1955 after a major dam construction that reshaped the landscape into what we see today. That single engineering project transformed the river valley into one of Arkansas's largest water recreation areas.
The visitor center displays how fishing shaped local traditions and continues to be central to the community. You can see exhibits about the generations who have made their living and found recreation on these waters.
The park provides over 100 camping sites spread across different sections with varying levels of facilities. A marina in the park rents boats and fishing gear, so visitors without their own equipment can still fish and explore the water.
Eastern bluebirds nest along dedicated trails while bald eagles fish the waters regularly. Bird watchers come specifically to observe these two species in their natural behavior rather than in cages.
