Combs–Hehl Bridge, Cantilever bridge in Cincinnati, United States
Combs-Hehl Bridge is a cantilever bridge crossing the Ohio River with two parallel structures containing three lanes each. The span connects Cincinnati's eastern suburbs in Ohio to Campbell County in Kentucky and serves as part of the Interstate 275 corridor.
The bridge was completed in 1979 as part of a major expansion of Interstate 275, creating a new crossing between Ohio and Kentucky. This project addressed growing traffic demands in the Cincinnati metropolitan area.
Named after Kentucky Governor Bert T. Combs and Campbell County Judge Executive Lambert Hehl, the bridge reflects the recognition of regional political figures.
The bridge is designed for heavy traffic flow and serves as a vital link for daily commuters between the two states. Drivers should expect congestion during rush hours, particularly in early morning and late afternoon periods.
The bridge is supported by a central pier and spans approximately 219 meters across the river. On the Ohio side, the structure terminates near Coney Island amusement park.
