Cosmic Cavern, Natural show cave in Berryville, Arkansas
Cosmic Cavern is a show cave in Berryville featuring multiple underground chambers filled with mineral formations throughout its limestone passages. The cave system contains two lakes within its depths and displays various layers of rock formations in different rooms.
John Moore and his sons discovered this cave in 1845 while searching for lead deposits in the area. Later mining efforts in the 1880s extracted onyx stone from within the passage system.
The cave's South Lake hosted trout for nearly fifty years until 2011, establishing a long-standing tradition of fish feeding during guided tours.
Wear sturdy footwear since the paths can be uneven and slippery from moisture in the cave passages. The temperature stays constant throughout the year, so bringing a light jacket helps you stay comfortable during the visit.
The Silent Splendor room holds a nine-foot soda straw formation that ranks as the longest of its kind in the Ozark Mountains. These thin, tube-like structures grow slowly over time as mineral-rich water drips through the cave.
