The Eureka Springs and North Arkansas Railway operates excursion trains on a 2.5-mile restored track that winds through the Arkansas landscape. The railway uses six restored passenger coaches from the former Rock Island line and operates from its historic depot building.
Robert and Mary Jane Dortch established this railway in 1981 to revive a portion of the former Arkansas & Ozarks Railway line. Since then it has worked on restoring and preserving this historic rail corridor.
The 1912 depot building holds railroad memorabilia that reflects how rail travel shaped the region's past. Visitors can see these artifacts and understand what traveling by train meant to people in this area.
Visitors can choose one-hour rides, lunch trains, or dinner trains that operate mainly from April through October. Advance booking is recommended since availability varies with the season and spots are limited.
Locomotive No. 201 is a rare 1906 Mogul-type engine that once worked on the Panama Canal construction. It is one of only three surviving locomotives from that historic engineering project.
