The College of Physicians of Philadelphia occupies a brick building at 19 South 22nd Street, housing medical collections and educational facilities.

Founded in 1787 by James Hutchinson and 23 other physicians, this institution represents the first private medical organization in the United States.

The Mütter Museum within the college contains over 25,000 medical specimens, instruments, and artifacts documenting the evolution of medical practices.

Visitors can access the Historical Medical Library, which maintains 340,000 books and bound journals, with the oldest document dating from 1244.

The institution preserves 411 incunables, books printed before 1500, forming one of the largest collections of early medical literature in North America.
