Cordts Mansion, Historic mansion in Kingston, United States.

Cordts Mansion is a three-story Second Empire residence in Kingston featuring a centered tower, slate mansard roof with dormer windows, decorative iron roof cresting, and a columned front porch. The estate sits on nine acres of landscaped grounds on a hilltop with views overlooking the Hudson River.

John A. Cordts, a brick merchant and manufacturer, commissioned this mansion in 1873 using materials sourced from local brickyards and lumberyards. The construction reflects the economic prosperity of the brick industry in the region during that period.

The home reflects how successful 19th-century merchants in the Hudson Valley displayed their wealth through grand architectural choices and expansive grounds. The hilltop setting and formal layout show how prosperous families positioned themselves in the landscape to command views and attention.

The property is located on Lindsley Avenue in a quiet, hilly area that makes orientation straightforward. Visitors should note that the elevated hilltop setting means some walking areas and access points may require moderate physical effort to navigate.

The property now operates partly as a hotel through Hutton Brickyards, blending its historic architecture with contemporary accommodations. This adaptation demonstrates how the mansion has been preserved while serving new functions for visitors.
