The Croswell Opera House on East Maumee Street features traditional theater architecture with a grand entrance and performance stage for live productions.
Founded in 1866 by the Adrian Union Hall Company, with future Michigan governor Charles Croswell as stockholder, the theater opened its first public event in March.
The theater presents six to eight full-scale musicals annually, along with straight plays and educational programs that engage the local Michigan community.
Visitors can access performances throughout the year, with current productions including The SpongeBob Musical in November and Broadway Holiday shows in December 2024.
Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony delivered speeches at this venue, which transformed from an opera house to a movie theater before returning to live performances.
