Doty Island, River island in Winnebago County, United States.
Doty Island is a river island situated between two branches of the Fox River, connecting Menasha and Neenah. The island contains residential neighborhoods, parks, and various community facilities accessible from both directions via bridges.
The island was named for James Duane Doty, who became Wisconsin Territory governor in the early 1840s and established his residence there. Well before that, Native American peoples including the Ho-Chunk inhabited the area for generations.
The Ho-Chunk Native American tribe established settlements on the island, with Chief Glory of the Morning maintaining a village during the 18th century.
Multiple road bridges connect the island to the mainland from both sides, making it easy to reach. Pedestrians and vehicles can move through or across the island without restrictions.
One distinctive feature is the Isle of Valor, a memorial park on a smaller islet connected by footpaths to the northern section. This quiet memorial provides a place of reflection in the middle of the river.
