Earthpark, Educational facility project in Pella, Iowa
Earthpark is a planned environmental education center in Pella, Iowa, designed to combine an indoor rainforest habitat, a large aquarium, and outdoor wetland areas. The facility aims to bring visitors face-to-face with natural ecosystems.
The project started in the early 2000s as the Environmental Project, inspired by the Eden Project in Cornwall. Development efforts took place between 2006 and 2008 but were not completed.
This educational center aims to connect visitors with natural environments through immersive experiences and environmental learning opportunities.
The planned location is near Pella and accessible by car. Plan to spend several hours exploring all the different areas within the center.
The development plans include creating 150 direct employment positions and generating an estimated 130 million dollars annually for the local economy.
