Fairfield Stadium, Sports stadium in Huntington, United States.
Fairfield Stadium was a football stadium in Huntington, West Virginia, built to hold roughly 18,000 spectators. It had artificial turf, updated locker rooms, a press box, and concession stands arranged around the seating area.
The stadium opened in 1928 and served as the home field for Marshall University's football team for over 60 years, until it was retired in 1990. It was demolished in 2004.
The stadium brought neighbors together through football games and local tournaments where families gathered to watch their teams play. These events were part of the community's rhythm and gave people a shared sporting tradition.
The site where the stadium stood is in a hilly part of Huntington, which can make getting there a bit more involved depending on where you start. The stadium no longer exists, so there is nothing left to visit on the grounds today.
After the demolition, part of the original locker room was built into Marshall University's Forensic Science Center. A piece of the old stadium now lives on inside a completely different building.
