Exchange Place

Exchange Place is a 40-story glass and steel high-rise in Boston's Financial District that rises 510 feet (155 meters) above State Street. The building blends contemporary architecture with preserved historic elements from its location.

The building was completed in 1984 while intentionally preserving the 1891 facade of the Boston Stock Exchange. This design choice honors the site's long history as a center of commerce and finance.

The Boston Globe newspaper chose this building as its headquarters starting in 2017, reflecting the city's evolving media industry. The move brought visibility to the location as a center of journalism and communication.

The building connects directly to State Street MBTA station, making it easily accessible by the city's Blue Line and Orange Line transit routes. The location offers straightforward public transportation access from most parts of Boston.

The tower contains 24 elevators and holds LEED Platinum certification thanks to its integration with Boston's district heating system. This sustainable design approach represents an interesting example of environmentally conscious building practices in a dense urban setting.
