Nha Trang is a coastal city in Khánh Hòa Province in South Central Vietnam that stretches along seven kilometers of white sand beaches. Nineteen islands lie off the coast in the emerald waters of the bay.
The area was called Kauthara during the rule of the Champa Kingdom and became part of Vietnam in 1698. The current name comes from the Cham term Ea Dran.
The Po Nagar Cham Towers from the seventh century show a mix of Hindu and Buddhist building elements through their shrine levels. Visitors today see the connection of religious traditions in the architecture of this worship site.
Cam Ranh Airport lies 30 kilometers south of the city and offers regular flights to major Asian cities. Visitors reach the city center and beaches from there using various means of transport.
