Memurubu

Memurubu stands at the mouth of river Muru on Lake Gjende, serving as a fundamental point for the Besseggen hiking trail in Jotunheimen.

The cabin began its journey in 1872 as a mountain pasture, becoming the fourth establishment of the Norwegian Mountain Touring Association before shifting to private ownership.

The lodge maintains Norwegian mountain hospitality traditions by accommodating unscheduled visitors with extra mattresses and providing communal dining spaces.

The facility contains 150 beds distributed across double and quadruple rooms, with select family accommodations including private bathrooms and shower facilities.

The lodge generates its electricity through an independent hydroelectric system, while grazing cows still roam the surrounding mountain pastures.
