Snønipa

Snønipa is a mountain summit in the Breheimen range of western Norway, rising to approximately 1827 meters above sea level. This peak sits within Sunnfjord Municipality and presents a challenging destination for those seeking high-altitude climbing experiences.

The mountain area transferred to Sunnfjord Municipality in 2020 when administrative boundaries were redrawn in Sogn og Fjordane county. This change reshaped the territorial organization of surrounding communities in the region.

Local residents maintain traditional practices of mountain farming and outdoor activities, connecting generations through shared experiences in the Snønipa landscape.

Climbing requires mountaineering experience, sturdy footwear, and preparation for rapidly changing weather at elevation. Visitors should check local conditions beforehand and carry water, food, and weatherproof clothing for the journey.
