Juratinden, Mountain summit in Møre og Romsdal, Norway.
Juratinden is a mountain summit in Møre og Romsdal with an elevation of 1,712 meters (5,617 feet) located on the border between Molde and Rauma municipalities. The peak features two distinct summits that set it apart from surrounding mountains in the area.
The first recorded ascent took place in 1880 when mountaineers Iver Kavli and Bård Moen climbed the mountain via the northeast ridge. This early expedition opened the way for the mountaineering routes that developed later.
The peak takes its name from its distinctive shape with two summits that resemble udders from certain viewing angles. Locals have long used this feature to identify and describe the mountain to others.
The final approach requires technical climbing equipment and ropes for the last 30 meters (98 feet), making proper safety gear essential. Visitors should have mountaineering experience or go with experienced guides.
The mountain has a prominence of 285 meters and ranks as the seventh highest peak in the Eikesdalsvatnet Protected Landscape Area. This combination of elevation and prominence makes it a notable landmark for climbers in the region.
