Våttåkammen, Mountain hiking trail in Bymarka, Trondheim, Norway.
Våttåkammen is a loop trail in Bymarka covering about 3.6 kilometers through pine forests and wetland areas, with roughly 210 meters of elevation gain. The route leads to an observation point on the ridge where the landscape opens up around you.
The Bymarka forests were designated as municipal forestland in the early 1900s and opened to the public. This gave Trondheim residents new access to explore the natural landscape beyond the city.
Local residents come here regularly to spend time outdoors and step away from city routines. The place serves as a popular meeting point where people hike in warmer months and cross-country ski when snow arrives.
The trailhead is easily reached by bus from the city center, though a short walk from the bus stop is needed to reach the starting point. The path is well-formed and manageable for most people with basic outdoor experience.
An observation point north of the main ridge offers views toward Trondheim city center, the Selbu mountains, and the Fosen peninsula across the fjord. This vantage point makes it a popular spot for photographs and watching the landscape change with the seasons.
