This administrative division covers terrain that ranges from hills to the outer Terai plains. The Mahendra Highway cuts through the landscape, linking the various settlements and communities spread across the area.
The area underwent major reorganization in 2015 when it was split into two separate portions. One section became part of Gandaki Province while the other formed Parasi District in Lumbini Province.
