Baywalk, Seaside esplanade in Malate and Ermita, Philippines
The Baywalk is a waterfront promenade stretching approximately two kilometers along Roxas Boulevard, extending from the US Embassy to the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The pathway runs directly along the Manila Bay waterfront.
The Baywalk underwent major renovations under Mayor Lito Atienza's 'Buhayin ang Maynila' program, which aimed to revitalize the city's waterfront. This modernization was part of broader efforts to improve urban development along the bay.
Local performers and musicians regularly gather here in the evenings, making this waterfront walk a social hub where Manila residents meet and spend their free time. The space serves as a gathering point for people from different neighborhoods.
The promenade has numerous food vendors, open-air cafes, and benches throughout, making it easy to rest or eat while walking. The pathway is accessible during the day and evening hours, allowing you to explore at your own pace.
In 2020, an artificial beach with dolomite sand was added along the waterfront, transforming the natural coastline. This sand was brought in to create a beach-like environment where visitors can sit closer to the water's edge.
