Pampanga Provincial Capitol, Administrative building in San Fernando, Philippines.
The Pampanga Provincial Capitol is an administrative building in San Fernando featuring neoclassical architecture with prominent columns and balanced proportions throughout its design. The property includes expansive manicured grounds that form part of Silva Park, providing open green space around the main structure.
Construction finished in 1908 following the relocation of the provincial capital from Bacolor to San Fernando. This move represented a turning point in Pampanga's governance and established a new administrative center for regional affairs.
The grounds are known locally as Silva Park and serve as a symbol of provincial identity and civic pride for Pampangans. The bronze statue of General Maximino Hizon on the property reflects how communities honor figures important to their past and present life.
The site is readily accessible for visitors to explore the exterior and surrounding grounds during daylight hours. Plan to walk around the outside of the building and through the landscaped areas to experience the full scope of the property and its layout.
In the 1920s, the grounds housed a zoological garden filled with exotic birds and animals that attracted travelers heading to Baguio. Though no longer present today, this addition reveals how the property once served multiple purposes beyond its administrative role.
