Bhong Mosque

The Bhong Mosque is a prayer hall in Bhong village featuring ornate tile work, detailed carvings, multiple domes, and tall minarets. The building combines separate prayer spaces and displays crafted elements that shape the village landscape.

The mosque was built between 1932 and 1982, combining architectural elements from different periods of Islamic design. The construction spanned decades and absorbed design influences from multiple eras.

The mosque displays traditional Islamic patterns crafted by local artisans, featuring geometric designs and calligraphy throughout its spaces. These handmade details shape how the place looks and show the skill passed down through generations of craftspeople.

The main entrance on the eastern side leads to separate prayer areas for men and women. Visitors should respect prayer times and learn about local customs before entering.

The mosque received the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 1986 for blending traditional Islamic design with modern construction techniques. This recognition highlighted how the project merged historical craftsmanship with contemporary methods.
