Abbasi Mosque

The Abbasi Mosque is a prayer house in Yazman Tehsil featuring three domes on its roof, decorated arches, and marble elements that adorn the interior. The space accommodates numerous worshippers and shapes the landscape through its distinctive structure.

Nawab Bahawal Khan Abbasi commissioned this building in 1849, drawing inspiration from the Shah Jahani Masjid in Delhi. The founding reflects the religious importance of that era in the Punjab region.

This mosque displays traditional Islamic architecture from the 19th century and serves as a gathering space for religious ceremonies in the region. Visitors can observe the craftsmanship evident in the carved details and inscriptions that mark the interior.

The space is accessible to visitors, but it is important to dress appropriately and respect religious protocol before entering. The best time to visit is outside of prayer times when there is more freedom to move around.

A distinctive feature is the marble jharokha, a traditional overhanging enclosed balcony within the main arch, oriented toward Derawar Fort nearby. This architectural element connects the prayer house to the nearby fortress and displays the link between religious and secular authority.
