Estádio do Dragão, Football stadium in Campanhã, Porto, Portugal
Estádio do Dragão is a football stadium in Campanhã, a district in eastern Porto, and offers seating for over 50,000 spectators across multiple levels. The exterior shell displays steel beams and modern construction materials that give the complex a contemporary appearance, while blue ceramic tiles are incorporated at various points.
The structure was built for the 2004 European Football Championship and replaced the club's former home ground. The opening took place in November 2003 with a match against a Catalan team, marking the first major event at the new venue.
The club displays blue and white throughout the stadium, from the interior spaces to the spectator areas. On match days, supporters gather in the surrounding streets and create a lively atmosphere before kickoff, while local vendors sell jerseys and scarves.
The metro station in front of the main entrance connects the grounds to Porto city center and the airport. It is best to visit on match days or during guided tours, as the interior is otherwise not accessible.
The grounds include a museum inside the complex that displays trophies and objects from the club's past. Visitors can enjoy a wide view over the eastern neighborhoods of Porto from the upper tiers, especially toward the Douro River.
