Igreja da Trindade

The Igreja da Trindade features a granitic structure with an elongated octagonal shape, plain granite façades, and decorative plaster ceilings within its walls.

Construction of the church began in 1709 and continued for thirty years until its completion in 1739, including the addition of two bell towers.

The main altar contains an elaborate retable designed by Nicolau Nasoni in 1745, representing religious artistry of the eighteenth century Portuguese craftsmanship.

The church maintains regular visiting hours throughout the year, though visitors should note the building does not provide wheelchair accessibility.

Blue and white azulejo tiles installed in 1932 cover the church façade, depicting detailed scenes from the life of Saint Ildefonso.
