Praia do Vau

Praia do Vau is a beach in the Algarve with light-colored sand backed by tall, reddish-brown cliff faces rising directly from the shoreline. The water slopes gradually from shallow areas near the sand into deeper sections further out.

The cliff formations took shape over millions of years as ocean waves and weather slowly wore away the limestone layering. This coastline reflects the enduring forces that have continuously reshaped this region since ancient times.

Local families arrive during warmer months to spend entire days swimming and relaxing on the sand together. The cove has become a gathering place where people pass their leisure time in a casual, unhurried way.

The beach is easy to access from nearby roads and has parking spaces in close proximity to the sand. Shower and restroom facilities are available, with lifeguards on duty during peak swimming months.

During low tide, natural rock pools form among the rocks with water that warms faster than the open ocean. These shallow basins offer sheltered swimming areas separate from the main beach current.
