Molhe Beach

Molhe Beach comprises two sandy sections separated by a 650-meter pier extending from the Rio Arade mouth into the Atlantic. Each side of the pier presents different water conditions: the river-facing area stays sheltered, while the ocean side receives stronger currents and waves.

The beach marks the entrance to Rio Arade, a key maritime trade route since early coastal settlement. The pier was constructed over time to support shipping and fishing operations at this strategic harbor location.

The beach is woven into Ferragudo's identity, with local fishermen working alongside harbor structures using time-tested methods. The space reflects the community's long relationship with the sea and its resources.

The beach is accessible via stairs from a cliff-top parking area, with designated swimming zones on both sides of the pier. Those seeking calmer waters should head to the river side, while wave enthusiasts can explore the ocean side.

The pier acts as a natural divider, creating two completely different swimming experiences just meters apart. Many visitors overlook the chance to switch sides and explore both environments in a single visit.
