Pintadinho Beach

Pintadinho Beach sits on the eastern side of the Rio Arade mouth and features sandy areas bordered by fossil-rich cliffs. The water is clear and the shoreline offers rock formations and open sand areas for swimming.

The beach is located near the Fortress of Sao Joao do Arade, built in the 15th century as part of Portugal's coastal defense network. This position was strategically chosen to protect maritime trade routes.

Local fishing practices remain visible here, with people mending nets and organizing their catch throughout the day in customary ways.

The beach has designated parking areas, nearby restaurants, and direct access to Ferragudo village. During summer months, lifeguarded swimming zones are in place for safety.

The northern section has a natural stone formation with two arch openings that resemble a cathedral vault. This rock feature creates a dramatic backdrop and is frequently photographed by visitors.
