The industrial complex extends over 1000 square meters, featuring exhibition spaces, a documentation center, and gardens with orange trees within its grounds.
Established in 1894, the factory processed cork materials until 1995, when it transformed into a cultural center showcasing the region's industrial heritage.
The Cork Museum, opened in 1999, displayed machinery and documents from 1870 onward, illustrating British influence in Portuguese cork manufacturing.
The facility remained active until 2010, welcoming 90,000 annual visitors to explore industrial exhibits and participate in cultural events.
The complex earned the Luigi Micheletti Award in 2001 for excellence in industrial museum presentation and heritage preservation in Europe.
