The church stands on a strategic hilltop with high earthen embankments and remnants of ellipsoidal fortifications from the Middle Ages.
Founded as a Benedictine abbey in 1095, the structure underwent reconstruction after the Tartar invasion of 1241, with only the lion emblem surviving.
The church maintains its original Gothic architectural elements, including an ancient church gate and a medieval sundial referencing Abbot Anton.
Visitors can reach the church through the southeast corner of Cavalry Hill, with a recommended visiting duration of 45 minutes.
The preserved church choir displays a simplified nave constructed in the 19th century over ancient foundations, revealing multiple construction periods.
