Arad Neolog Synagogue

The Arad Neolog Synagogue features neo-classical architecture with a triangular three-story design, a central courtyard, and a prominent arched window that illuminates the interior sanctuary.

Constructed in 1834, the synagogue served a Jewish community that grew to over 10,000 members before World War II, making it one of Romania's most significant Jewish religious centers.

The synagogue represents the Neolog movement, a 19th-century Reform Judaism branch that introduced modern practices including High German services and pipe organ music under Rabbi Aaron Chorin's leadership.

Located on Strada Cozia 12, the synagogue operates as both a place of worship and the city's Jewish Community Center, hosting religious services and cultural events.

The interior features a dome decorated with a Star of David rosette surrounded by twelve painted windows representing openings to the sky, with ornate blue and gold floral patterns.
