The original venue from 1922 was destroyed by fire in 1975 during a match against FC Politehnica Iași. The current facility opened in 1982 and has served as the team's home ground ever since.
The venue is named after Petre Libardi, the captain who led the team to the Romanian Cup final in 1973-1974. Local fans recognize this name as part of their club's most memorable moments.
Visitors should know the facility is managed by the Municipality of Petroșani and operated by the local football club for matches and events. The seating areas are arranged in multiple sections offering different viewing angles.
The facility underwent major upgrades in 2005 when it received electronic scoreboards and replaced all old seating with new plastic chairs throughout. This renovation transformed the venue into a contemporary sports space for the community.
